WasteServ through its Contractor - OZO Services is seeking to recruit a Head of Shift - Thermal Treatment Facility (TTF).
Position: Head of Shift - TTF
General Overview of Responsibilities
- Organization of work schedules for the daily smooth operation of the plant, including the daily plant supervision and fault reporting procedures;
- Distributing work-load to the operatives, supervisors and loaders working in the plant, including those working at the Autoclave;
- Recording and reporting of irregularities;
- Report in writing any faulty equipment;
- Take diesel reading at the beginning and end of shift;
- Take water and electricity readings;
- Check bottom ash container and report to superiors if it needs to be emptied. This has to be done first thing in the morning so as to set up logistics;
- Prepare waste to be incinerated during the day shift and also during the following night;
- Ensure that the facility (both the upper and lower levels) are kept clean from blood and any other waste;
- Liaising with SCADA Operators regarding the required waste streams to be loaded into the incinerator and prepare material accordingly;
- Keeping check on any emissions exceedances and providing support to the SCADA Operators accordingly;
- Ensure that full bins are stored in rows according to the respective waste stream;
- Carrying out basic fixes in emergencies during the night shifts;
- Responsible from the H&S of all the employees under his/her responsibility;
- Must ensure that the employees are wearing the proper PPE as dictated in the procedures;
- Compile the Incident Report in case of an incident on site during his/her shift;
- Monitor and record the temperatures of the main fridge on a daily basis;
- Ensure that sodium bicarbonate, Urea and activated carbon are delivered to the Incinerator from stores as required, and in preparation for night shifts;
- Fill in check lists (such as but not limited to, the daily cleaning sheets TTF067 & TTF068, ERA Emissions Report TTF019, etc);
- Compile the Daily Report (TTF010) as the end of the shift and send it to his/her superiors and other Head of Shifts;
- Attend all obligatory training as required by the company in order to be able to fulfil the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills and techniques.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have an MQF Level 5 qualification and 1 year experience in a supervisory role in an industrial environment;
OR
- Must have an MQF Level 4 qualification and 3 years experience in a supervisory role;
OR
- Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in a Supervisory role;
- Must be IT competent and proficient in both Maltese and English;
- Must have the knowhow of operating heavy plants and a meticulous approach towards safety;
- SCADA knowledge and a keen eye for detail will be considered as an asset;
- Must be able to work both in a team and with minimum supervision is also necessary;
- Must have a Clean Police Conduct
