WasteServ through its Contractor - OZO Services is seeking to recruit a Professional – Health & Safety.
Position: Professional – Health & Safety
This vacancy is based in Gozo.
General Overview of Responsibilities
- Assist the Professional – Security, Health and Safety to take all the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety at all times of all company employees who may be affected by the work being carried out for the Company;
- Provide assistance to ensure that all practicable measures are taken to prevent physical and psychological occupational ill-health, injury or death;
- Perform general or task-specific risk assessments, including but not limited to Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), COSHH assessments, Display Screen Assessments, etc.
- Assist in the upkeep of the Company’s Emergency Response Plans, and conduct emergency drills as necessary;
- Co-ordinate and/or give adequate health and safety training to workers and/or contractors on various health and safety-related subjects and/or procedures, including delivering toolbox talks;
- Issue Permit-to-Works (PTW) for high-risk activities as per company health and safety procedures, and ensure that records of such PTW are adequately maintained;
- Assist the Professional – Security, Health & Safety in the procurement of goods and/or services as may be required;
- Perform periodic health and safety inspections of the assigned areas to ensure that any health and safety risks are adequately mitigated;
- Review records of equipment pre-use checklists and, where applicable, ensure that corrective action is taken to safeguard company employees and others who might be at risk;
- Assist in the coordination of the company’s monitoring activities, including the certification of work equipment, emergency equipment, occupational hygiene, etc;
- Investigate all incidents occurring within the Company and keep records accordingly;
- Co-ordinate and attend the regular health and safety meetings carried out throughout the year;
- Ensure that occupational health program is implemented within the assigned departments;
- Ensure that disciplinary action is taken in cases where employees are found to be breaking company procedures;
- Represent the company during any internal and/or external health and safety audits;
- Act as Project Supervisor for the Design and Construction Stage for any assigned projects and ensure that all company projects are executed safely;
- Direct sub-ordinates in meeting their work objectives;
- Assist the Professional – Head of Security, Health and Safety in the implementation of the Company’s Health & Safety Management System as may be required;
- Attend all obligatory training required by the company to fulfil the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills and techniques.
Eligibility Criteria
- MQF Level 6 Qualification in a related field;
- Be proficient in Maltese & English.
