In line with Malta’s sustainable environmental and waste management strategy, WasteServ seeks to provide a national service through its waste recovery and treatment processes employed at the Transfer Station in Tal-Kus, Xewkija, Gozo. The facility has been established to: (i) sort, bale and/or transfer dry recyclables, (ii) compact municipal solid waste & organic waste, and (iii) process commercial, bulky and green waste. The resulting fractions are thereafter transferred to other designated WasteServ facilities or to third parties for further processing as applicable.
WasteServ’s critical objectives are to achieve and enhance customer satisfaction, protect the environment, prevent work-related injury and ill-health whilst providing reliable waste management services to (Gozitan) waste carriers, producers and brokers.
Through its operations at Tal-Kus and the various supporting branches, WasteServ will strive to:
- Comply with Environmental Permit EP 0022/21 and relevant legislation;
- Maximise the extraction of dry recyclables;;
- Reduce air emissions by compacting waste in containers and reducing waste transfers to Malta;
- Use and maintain the facility efficiently;

- Attain positive feedback from waste carriers, producers and brokers;

- Minimise customer complaints;
·
- Implement the principles of the hierarchy of control in order to eliminate hazards and reduce health and safety risks;
·
- Develop workforce skills;
·
- Promote best working practices at all levels, including visitors and contractors;
·
- Ensure that employees and/or workers’ representatives participate and are consulted on health and safety matters.
The status of the objectives is reviewed every four months and discussed in Management Review Meetings when applicable.
To implement this policy we have adopted a management system based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018
We are committed to continually improve our management system and its effectiveness constantly and repeatedly through established mechanisms. This policy shall be communicated to, and understood by, all personnel within the organisation. We will also communicate this policy to the public, and all visitors and contractors at the facility.
This Policy is reviewed on yearly basis to ensure that our focus on customer requirements, environmental preservation and prevention of work-related injuries or ill-health is maintained, and that the measures of our promise to our customers are achieved.
